Ahead of the England Test Series against West Indies, Dillon Pennington, a recent player on the 2021/22 R66T Academy High Performance Program in Adelaide, has earned his first call up to the England Test squad!

Dillon travelled out to Adelaide, Australia in 2021/22 to participate on the R66T Academy High Performance Program. During his time in Australia he trained under High Performance Director Shaun Siegert and his team of coaches where the focus was to 1. Find A Way, 2. Push Comfort Zones and 3. Develop Character.

R66T Academy High Perfromance Director, Shaun Seigert, commented: "Dillon trained in the R66T Academy HPP back in 21/22 as a promising bowler having played a bit of County Cricket for Worcestershire CCC. His selection for England is a reward and opportunity on the back of him investing in himself to come to Australia, and being prepared to be challenged differently as a player and as a person. Hopefully this is just the start for Dillon and we hope he continues to keep on improving and pushing himself."

On his return to the UK Dillon took his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket for Worcestershire against Derbyshire. He was then signed by Birmingham Phoenix for the inaugural season of The Hundred. In 2023, he joined Nottinghamshire and more recently, he received his first call-up to the England squad for the three-match Test series against West Indies.

Coach Shaun Seigert has over 17 years of experience producing proffesional cricketers and has seen many high-level cricketers graduate from the program. By encouraging the three High Performance philosophies: Find a way, push comfort zones and develop character, the program has overall resulted in 200 first class cricket player graduates and 32 international cricket player graduates! This proven method improves the skills and players characters to ultimately, improve their performances as cricket players.

Joe Root, England cricket player, who attended the program in 2010/11, says: “I spent 4 months at a high performance program run by Shaun Seigert in Australia back in 2010/2011. I can’t tell you how much it improved my game. I came home from the experience well-prepared for first-class cricket. That season I broke into the Yorkshire first team and the rest is history! Shaun is a great addition to the R66T Academy and will certainly not be afraid to really challenge players.”

Everyone at The R66T Academy would like to extend their congratulations to Dillon!
