We have had such a huge year in 2024. We delivered various coaching camps up and down the UK and abroad, launched a brand new E-Learning coaching course, delivered our first international tournament in Dubai, and Joe Root has broken some amazing records!
Reflecting on the year, we wanted to take a look back on our Top 10 R66T Academy moments from 2024…
1. 15 Camps delivered across the world and 280 young people coached by The R66T Academy
From Sheffield to Chicago and beyond, the R66T Academy has expanded its coaching camps and series and is building for further development in 2025.
2. Expansion of State School cricket competitions and the T20 Cup
Through the R66T 2 Hardball, Trueman R66T and Shape R66T state school leagues, over 200 state schools have played competitive cricket in a R66T Academy league structure in 2024. We are aiming to broaden the competition and expand further across the UK in 2025 and make the tournaments even better!
We also had The R66T Academy T20 Cup return for its second season in the summer as we visited various locations all over the UK - We visited Bristol, Devon, Newcastle, and Sheffield.
Players from clubs within the UK were drafted into a franchise team with their own unique playing shirts and they competed to win their region.
We are so excited for the tournament to return in 2025 - And be even bigger and better!

We have had our very first Coaches graduate from the Level 3 Diploma in the Principles of Cricket Coaching this year!

In 2024, we delivered the first edition of the R66T Dubai Cup alongside our partner Inspiresport. Cricket teams from around the world competed in the tournament held at the Dubai Seven’s Stadium. Earlier this year in March, we launched our first Academy in Baltimore, USA. We created the Olympic R66T Academy as a chance for cricket players to undergo an elite training program to complete High Performance Training provided by our Head Coach and Joe Root’s former Coach, Riaz Richards.
From the launch of the Academy, we have seen a significant growth in the number of players attending as well as the actual development of their skills and abilities in training and on the pitch. For more information, click here.
6. Partnership with UNIPRO
Earlier this year, we partnered with Sheffield Hallam University and UNIPRO Sports Academy to create the UNIPRO R66T Academy. This is an amazing opportunity for students looking to combine studies with sports at the University following the principles of our High Performance Program in Adelaide. The program will see the first cohort of students begin in September 2025.
7. Merchandise - Products used by players and coaches around the world
Our merchandise has continued to see players, coaches and parents from all around the world use our training aids in their training sessions. The R66T Academy Ball Launcher proved to be particularly popular this year.
