The R66T Academy kick starts with a bang, following the first cricket coaching camp of 2023 held at S20 The Boundary, Sheffield.
The R66T Academy kick starts with a bang, following the first cricket coaching camp of 2023 held at S20 The Boundary, Sheffield.
The two-day Coaching Camp saw young cricketers travel to Sheffield from as far as London and Norwich to develop their skills in preparation for the 2023 season.
All participants were sent a special message delivered from Billy and Joe Root about how they had attended similar camps when they were younger alongside a few words of wisdom.
Led by Gareth Townsend (former Surrey Academy Head Coach) and Harvey Anderson (Senior Lecturer in Sport & PE at Sheffield Hallam University & ECB Level 4 Coach), the camp aimed to establish solid technical fundamentals of batting, bowling, catching and throwing.
The focus then moved onto developing these skills through challenging the players with different match scenarios to understand how to apply the fundamental skills depending upon the situation. Across the two halls at the facility, the players all had significant net practice across both batting and bowling.
All participants were able to experience the R66T Academy Coaching Aids range including the Ball Launcher, Ball Feeder, Reactor and Technique Training Bats to practice a variety of coaching drills, demonstrating the flexibility and adaptation of training using these products.
The R66T Academy Coaches were extremely impressed with the level of skill displayed throughout the camp.
The Camp concluded with a thank you from Nick Gaywood, Project Manager at the R66T Academy and all participants received a R66T Academy Cap, T-Shirt or Hoodie.
