SHAUN SEIGERT'S MONTH IN REVIEW

February throws up many challenges for the players. It is the hottest month in the summer, the season is coming to an end and remaining focused and disciplined - while working on areas of improvement in a high-performance lifestyle - can be difficult and is a big challenge. However, it can also be where the biggest gains are made.

The players reviewed their values in the leadership course and learnt some valuable lessons around those behaviours chosen by the players of passion, persistence and respect. A lot of the discussion centred around choices and the pathway they take you down regardless of talent. While these things are, at times, difficult, they are often what separates players.

The R66T Academy played a T20 game against St Peter's College on the school’s front oval. Games like these provide valuable extra match practice and an opportunity to implement aspects of playing the game that are important to play at higher levels. The R66T Academy made 130 runs from their 20 overs, with Anoush Fernandez top scoring with 27 runs and Adam Chislett grabbing 25 runs. In reply, St Peters made 95 runs, with leg spinner Charlie Moore being the pick of the bowlers going for just 10 runs of his 4 overs.

The second ‘Snakepit’ session was completed - this time going around the course eight times, which is extremely challenging. All players could see the improvement in their conditioning with the consistency in their times across the course.

PLAYER OF THE MONTH - KOHIT BANGA

Kohit Banga, from Ottawa, Canada, has spent the entire Australian season training in The R66T Academy High Performance Program in Adelaide.

The leg spinner, who bats in the middle order, spent most of the 2023 season playing in the Elite Competition in Toronto, Canada. Last season, he played for the Qasra Academy, taking 32 wickets at a respectable average of 15.06.

Playing for the Hectorville Club in the Adelaide Turf Competition, Kohit has made a big impact on that competition, taking 39 wickets at 11.08 with his ‘leggies’! He has taken three 5-wicket hauls and two 4-wicket hauls to make his presence felt, his best being 5 for 29. With the bat, he has made 289 runs batting at the top and middle order - as an attacking right hander - with a highest score of 90.

Kohit is a valued member of the group and has quickly become one of the leaders, as well as a key member of his club’s team with both the bat and ball. For him, he needs to keep working at increasing his game knowledge to adapt and succeed in higher level cricket progressing through the ranks and having success at those levels.

COMING UP IN MARCH

As the players enter the final stages of the program, they need to have clear goals so they give themselves a chance to achieve what they set out to do when beginning the High Performance Program.

We play another T20 game, this time against A1 Turf Club Goodwood CC on a Tuesday night. This will provide a challenge against one of the top ranked teams in that competition.

The players will also complete their final Leadership Course review, where players will challenge each other to provide feedback on their behaviours underpinning their games. This provides a great opportunity for the group to get a better understanding of themselves.

PLAYER DIARY - KYLE WILLIAMS

Hey there, cricket fam! Welcome to my first blog!

Touching down in Australia on January 1st, 2024, I was buzzing with excitement to dive into The R66T Academy High Performance Program 2023/2024. Right from the start, I sensed this journey was going to be legendary.

Sure, it's about taking my cricket skills to the next level, but it's also about personal growth - physically and mentally. Each day throws new challenges my way, pushing me to evolve on and off the field.

Let me tell you, the grind in this program is real. From killer fitness sessions to conquering the notorious ‘Snakepit’ track, it's a constant test of grit and determination.

Yet amid the grind, there's joy in every match. Playing with the Pooraka Bulls 1st division cricket club on Saturdays has been a blast, even against tough opponents. And representing the Pooraka Bulls A grade team in the O'Neills Sports T20 Competition is a highlight I'll never forget.

Attending the Test Match between Australia and West Indies at the iconic Adelaide Oval was a dream come true. Plus, bonding with teammates and soaking in Adelaide's cricket culture has been epic.

And the food? Let's just say it's top-notch.

Dealing with the Aussie heat hasn't been easy, but we're powering through, knowing every moment is an opportunity to grow.

Reflecting on my journey, I urge fellow cricketers to jump into this Program. It's not just about the game; it's about unlocking your potential in every aspect of life.

As I continue with The R66T Academy High Performance Program, I'm pumped for what's ahead.
