The R66T Academy is excited to announce that Washington Cricket Academy – a thriving cricket club based in Sterling, Virginia, USA – will be attending our Coaching Camp in Ipswich in August.
The Camp, which will be based at the Royal Hospital School in Holbrook, is aimed at regular hardball cricketers aged between 11 and 15 years old.

In their own words, Washington Cricket Academy aims to develop internationally competitive young talent and raise the standard of cricket in USA. WCA ensure their programs are easily accessible to cricket fanatics and aims at embedding world class cricket techniques and harnessing the best out of everyone.

Through working with the R66T Academy's Travel Partner, inspiresport, WCA are bringing 10 players, nine supporters and two coaches to the United Kingdom for our Ipswich Camp this summer, which takes place from Thursday 10th to Friday 11th August 2023.

Discussing the upcoming R66T Academy Camp, Washington Academy Coach Raj Damaraju said: "When the R66T Academy conducted its camp in Baltimore, lots of our academy kids attended and we got positive feedback from players and parents. This time, we wanted the similar training for our 10-year-old boys who are on a UK cricket tour - hence this camp.

"WCA will participate in a five-day Taunton Cricket Festival after our R66T Academy camp. Of course, we will be visiting Lord’s and watching a The Hundred game. The parents and players alike are excited about the trip.

"WCA has been visiting the UK for the past three years, but every year is always new and fresh for this young team, as most of the 10-year-old boys will be playing cricket for the first time in good English conditions. We hope they learn and take their experience with them for their future in cricket."

Meanwhile, Nick Gaywood, R66T Academy Project Manager, added: "We are absolutely delighted that Washington Academy are coming to England to take part in our Coaching Camp at Ipswich this summer. Training and competing against high-quality players from USA will be really beneficial for the local players involved, and we hope that WCA's players feel the same!

"Washington Academy have a brilliant cricket program and we are really looking forward to welcoming their players, coaches and supporters to England this August."

The camp will be delivered by our ECB qualified coaches, who will use the recently refurbished outdoor nets and two cricket squares with grass wickets. In the event of rain, the nets in the school sportshall will be utilised.
